Just an FYI that the new website should launch in October. We settled on Mound City Messenger for the site name, are mostly finished with designing and building the site, and are preparing the first raft of stories for the launch. If you want to get the first stories, etc., you should follow us on either X (fka Twitter) at @MCMnewsSTL or Facebook. We’re actively looking for volunteer journalists who want to cover the things they love about #STL. Also some of the things they like way less, lol.
Two things that we definitely want to cover and haven’t had luck finding volunteers for is the local hip hop and poetry/literature scenes. Do you regularly go to these kind of local events? Do you wish more of your neighbors were there to enjoy things with you? If so, we’re going to be providing a platform for you to spread the word about those events and artists. Speaking of art, we’re also looking for someone to cover small gallery shows in the region. Interested in helping out with covering any of those cultural scenes?
